The Animal Clinic in Hendersonville offers pet grooming and boarding – we are the only Hendersonville animal hospital to cater to cat grooming & boarding with a separate cat condo area to keep them feeling safe & secure.

As pet owners ourselves, we believe preventative care with wellness exams, vaccines, parasite screenings, heartworm test and lab tests are the keys to your pet living a longer, healthier & happier life. Meet the Doctors

Emily Granato, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Emily Granato grew up in Memphis, TN and earned her undergraduate degree in 2001 from the University of Memphis. She graduated from University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 and completed a 1-year internship at LSU. She worked for 8 years as an emergency vet in Nashville before joining The Animal Clinic in 2014.

William Shannon, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. William Shannon has been a veterinarian in Hendersonville since 1970. After completing his undergraduate studies at David Lipscomb College and the University of Tennessee, he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Shannon’s interests in animals began at an early age as he and his dad raised cows, horses, donkeys, beagles, and bird dogs on the family farm.

Dr. Kathy Lewis

Veterinarian

Dr. Kathy Lewis joined The Animal Clinic in Hendersonville in 2019. Dr. Lewis grew up in Nashville, TN and earned her veterinary degree in 2003 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she worked as an emergency veterinarian for 9 years before entering general practice. She received her acupuncture training at the Chi Insititute in Reddick, FL in 2015 and is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA).

She lives in Murfreesboro with her husband, children, two dogs and two cats. Outside the vet hospital, Dr. Lewis enjoys traveling, quiliting, and time with family.

Dr. Amybeth Rice

Veterinarian

Dr. Amybeth Rice joined The Animal Clinic in Hendersonville in 2019. Dr. Amybeth Rice is a native Nashvillian who grew up in the Hermitage area. She graduated from the College of Charleston in South Caroline in 2000 and the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Following a small animal internship in Florida, she returned home in 2006 to practice small animal and emergency medicine. Dr. Rice is excited to now work with Dr. Granato - a classmate of hers in veterinary school!

When she isn't working, she enjoys reading and traveling the world with her husband. She is a fur mom to a cat named Sophie and a French Bulldog named Piglet.

Ranetta Perkins, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Ranetta Perkins joined The Animal Clinic veterinary team in 2016. Upon graduating from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Perkins returned to Nashville, TN where she was born and raised. She worked in a busy small animal vet hospital for two years before she decided to venture into emergency veterinary medicine. Dr. Perkins worked at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners, where she spent time at their Franklin, TN, and Chicago, IL locations.

Jerry Flatt, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Jerry Flatt is from White County, Tennessee and received his B.S. in Animal Science at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Flatt resides in Hendersonville with his wife Linda, a librarian with the Sumner County School System, and two children, Steve and Amanda.
